S4 – S6
Formal Prelim assessments finish today Friday 26th January and normal timetable resumes for senior learners on Monday 29th January. Our invigilators have commented yet again on how respectful and well behaved our Senior learners have been throughout the exam period. Learners will get their assessments back during class time once they have been marked and verified.
When assessments are returned, learners will be supported to identify areas of strength together with areas for further study in preparation for the final SQA assessments.
Please note the following dates for your diary:
- Week beginning 26th February – second tracking report will be shared with learners and parents/carers giving the current demonstrated band for each subject.
- Thursday 29th February 2024 – senior surgery evening together with Careers Fair – more information to follow.
- Week beginning 25th March – third senior tracking report will be shared with learners/parents and carers giving the current demonstrated band for each subject.
- Week beginning 22nd April – SQA exams commence.
Burns Supper
We are holding our annual S6 Burns Supper next Thursday 1st February at 5.30pm in the Cross Keys, Kelso. Any S6 pupils wishing to attend must let the school office know by Monday 29th January and make the payment on ParentPay.
S2 Parents’ Evening – Thursday 8th February 2024
The S2 Parents’ Evening being held on Thursday 8th February 2024 from 5.00pm until 7.30pm. These meetings will be booked online and then held in-person at the school.
You will be able to book appointments from 5.00pm on Monday 29th January 2024 and the system will remain open to take your bookings until 5.00pm on Wednesday 7th February 2024.
Details of how to book these appointments have been sent through Groupcall to parents/carers today.
Please be aware that some of our teachers have more than one S2 class this session so it may not be possible to book appointments with all your youngsters teachers during this evening. Appointments are scheduled on a first come basis.
S1 London Trip
We are excited to announce that a group of S1 Social Subject learners are today visiting No 10 Downing Street to help celebrate Burns’ Night. We look forward to sharing more photos and information about this fantastic experience once they arrive back.
Well done to Cerys and Logan
A huge well done to Cerys and Leah who spent yesterday working with Strathclyde University as part of the Young Weir WISE outreach programme. Here are Leah and Cerys working on their Chemical and Process Engineering Activity. Here they are making Nano gels which looked like lots of fun. They also experienced making Nanopolymer Bouncy Balls and a Civil and Environmental Engineering activity with spaghetti.

Huge congratulations to a number of our S3 and S4 rugby players who have been selected to represent East U16 in the Girls Regional Game Series. Well done to Chloe Redpath (Kelso Rugby Football Club), Aurora Campbell (Gala Rugby Football Club) and Sophie Campbell (Gala Rugby Football Club) on this magnificent achievement. Accountancy Apprenticeship
A great opportunity has just come in with Rennie Welch Accountancy. Rennie Welch accountancy firm are looking to take on a school leaver- the student will complete all training/exams in house to become fully qualified. Offices are located in Melrose, Kelso and Berwick. The successful applicant will begin by working in the Kelso Office.
