Weekly Update 25/08/2023

Disabled Parking Bays

It is essential that disabled parking bays at KHS are available at all times to those families and young people who need to use them.

Unless you have a Blue Badge – and this is displayed on your car – please do not park in the disabled parking bays or block access to them at any time.

S6 Information Evening – Tuesday 29th August @ 5.30pm

We would like to extend an invite to all our S6 parent/carers to attend an Information evening on Tuesday 29th August.  This will be an opportunity to share with our post school planning and the UCAS application process. We will be supported by our guests from both LEAPS and Skills Development Scotland.

Celebration of Learning Senior Evening

We are holding our Celebration of Learning Evening for senior pupils on Thursday 7th September to celebrate their successes and achievements over the last session. Invites will be sent out soon by email to those who have been nominated for awards – keep an eye out on your inbox!

School Photographs

The Photographer will be in school on Wednesday 30th August to take photos of all S1, S4 and S6 pupils. Full school dress must be worn.

Well done S1!

A huge well done – and thank you – to our new S1 students who have made such a positive start to their time at KHS.  They all look so smart in their uniforms and staff have commented on their politeness and enthusiasm for learning.

Fun Learning in the Science Lab

Now they’ve had a few days to acclimatise to high school, we thought we would show you how amazingly our S1 have settled in. Here we see numeracy in action with practical applications of their learning. Plenty more amazingness to share in the coming days and weeks! #pridekhs

Giving Back to our Local Community

We are always proud to see our young people give back to our local community, so it was fantastic to hear this evening that a number of our senior pupils have now qualified to referee rugby matches in the Junior school. They will have lots of opportunities to practice their new skills throughout the season in the up and coming Borders Conference fixtures. Well done to all involved for showcasing our school values of Participation, Respect, Included, Determination and Excellence. We look forward to hearing about how you get on! #pridekhs

Swimming Success

Congratulations to Hamish Coates, Jessie Norris, Bronwen Payne and Jasper Harrison who took part in an invitation only event in Aberdeen during the summer break. Brilliant results galore and personal bests broken too! Well done all! #pridekhs

Equestrian Team

Kelso High School has a very successful Equestrian Team – which has had riders qualified for the NSEA National Championships every year since 2013!
Please get in touch with Gillian McFadyen if you would like to become involved. You need to be competently jumping at least 70cm.
There are also opportunities to volunteer and help for those without their own ponies.
The first competition of this year is the Northern Festival at Alnwickford on 9th & 10th September.
