EXPRESSIVE ARTS
Pupils in the Expressive Arts faculty at Kelso High School are encouraged to develop their creativity and skills in our Art & Design, Fashion & Textiles, Music and Music Technology courses.
S1 and S2 classes across the Faculty focus on the development of skills, building pupils confidence and introducing them to inspirational artists, designers and musicians. Personalisation and choice are encouraged increasingly from S3 upwards. In Music, learners chose which instruments to progress with and in the Art Department, they are introduced to a wide range of both 2D and 3D materials and techniques. Opportunities to perform and showcase work are given throughout the year through concerts, shows and exhibitions.
The Expressive Arts Faculty Aims:
- To inspire learners and give them a wide knowledge of Art, Music and Design.
- To develop the skills which allow learners to be able to critically comment on the work of artists and musicians.
- To prepare learners for the workplace and develop their knowledge of possible career pathways and possibilities for further study.
- To ensure that pupils feel safe and included in the department through positive working relationships and an ethos that reflects that of the school.
