Swimming Update

Scottish Short Course Championships (8th - 10th December)

Amy Richardson S5 and Erika Coupek S4 qualified for several events at this premier short course meet at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.  They had a very successful meet between them, gaining 5 new personal best times each, Amy just missed out on the 200m Butterfly senior final but the highlight was Erika dropping her time in 100m Freestyle to under 1 minute – well done girls!!

2018 East District Age Group Championships - 200m Events (Glenrothes 13th-14th January)

Erika and Amy both came away with more personal best times and both won SILVER medals in the respective main events.

Erika Coupek - Girls 16yrs 200m Backstroke Silver Medalist

Amy Richardson - Girls 17/18yrs 200m Butterfly Silver Medalist

Both girls have qualified for the maximum two events each, to represent Kelso High School at the Scottish Schools Championships in East Kilbride this Saturday 27th January.  Congratulations, what a fantastic achievement.

Our swimmers have been doing really well and are awaiting confirmation of swims at the British Championships combined with Edinburgh International in March, this will be a huge event, competing alongside swimmers hoping to qualify for the Commonwealth Games!!

Road Crossing @ Angraflat

Please can I remind all our young people that they must use the traffic light crossing that is provided when leaving the school grounds.  It has been noted, from members of our community, that it is mostly our senior pupils are not using the designated crossing and instead manoeuvre through the parked cars in the pick-up areas.  This is a real concern, due to the time of the night, it is very busy and there are a lot of cars out with parking bays.  Visibility for anyone is very poor.

Biking to/from School

A reminder now we are into the dark mornings and evenings that children stay safe when biking to and from school.  Please ensure bikes have front and back lights and pupils are wearing appropriate protective wear and can be seen by motorists.

Keep Kelso / KHS Tidy!

Pupils are reminded to respect both their school and their community and ensure that they use rubbish bins provided around school and the town to dispose of any litter.  If anyone has any suggestions on how we can promote this to stop littering please contact KHS at [email protected].
