Tour of Britain - Bike Painting Competition

Visit Kelso is a group of local individuals supporting the marketing activity of the town of Kelso, and are involved in the promotion of the Tour of Britain event which is coming to Kelso on 3rd September.  As part of the promotional activity and to help decorate the town we are holding a Bike Painting Competition with details below:

This is such a fun event with everyone of all ages being able to take part in bringing along their decorated bike.  Categories are by age group and with prizes for first place of £50, second place £30 and third place £20 it is a great competition.  Should you need a bike to decorate we can also help.  Go along and visit Focal point furniturelocated on Horsemarket in Kelso and there is a supply available for you to get all creative and be as bright and colourful as possible.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the town of Kelso, and we would hope as many of you will get involved as possible.

Hockey Update

Hockey is back with a bang with seven of our students selected for South squads heading to Glasgow at the end of September.  Congratulations to Aimee Martin and Lucy Murray who have been chosen for South U18 squad and to Chloe Aitchison, Emma Freeland-Cook, Kira McDonnell, Anna Woodcock and Sophie Younger who will play for the South U16s in the Inter-District Tournament on 30th Sept/1st Oct in Glasgow.  Good luck to all the players in both squads.

Our school returns this week with the opening matches of the season against Galashiels Academy (Friday afternoon), the S1s and S3s playing at Shedden Park and our S2s and Seniors teams heading over to Gala and Tweedbank respectively. All supporters are welcome to encourage our players with positive support.

The S1s parents' meeting was held on Wednesday but it's not too late to join.  If there are any new S1s keen to give hockey a try - and we think you'll love it if you do! - there is still plenty time to sign up and join the fun.  Training for S1s next week is on Monday (instead of the usual Tuesday) at Shedden Park from 4.10pm - 5.30pm.

KHS Equestrian Team

KHS have a very successful Equestrian Team who travel all over the country to take part in school’s competitions.  If you don’t have your own horse there are also opportunities to come along and help other riders at events by grooming etc.  We also help at local events such as Floors Horse Trials and Hendersyde Horse Trials so there is an opportunity to get involved by volunteering.

Had some great results – Katy had 2 wins (including one at National Championships!) and Rory had a couple of near misses but had good placings.  Well done to both.
