Weekly Update 24/08/18

Welcome Back

On Tuesday, it was great to catch up with our young people in S2 – S6 after a long summer and especially exciting to meet out new S1 learners.  Week 1 has been a success and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead together.  Thanks to everyone for wearing the KHS school uniform, pupils looked very smart.  Just a reminder that school shoes should be black.

S1 Lunch

Reminder that our young people within S1 should be remaining within school grounds during lunchtime.

Drop off / Pick Up

A reminder that all parents are asked to use the relevant areas on the main road outside the school to drop off or pick up their child.  There is no facility within the school grounds and therefore no cars should be waiting here.

Data sheets

This week within the school bags there should be a brown envelope containing a data sheet that is personal to your child.  Please can we ask that you search the bag to retrieve this item, if not already done so.  It is very important that we hold the most up to date information and so the relevant paperwork requires to be checked, signed and returned to school via your son/daughter’s Register Teacher.

Absence from school

A reminder to all parents that if your son/daughter is absent from school then please can you contact the school office to inform us and state the reason asap.  It is important that we keep all of our young people safe, that is why we send out a groupcall message.  Please contact the office by phone, email or if it is a planned absence a letter is also acceptable.

S3 Parents’ Information Evening

There is a planned S3 Parent Information Session on Tuesday 4th September from 6.30pm – 7.3pm.  More information to follow.

School Photos

S1, S4 and S6 will be getting school photographs taken on Thursday 30th August.  Details of time slots will be in the daily bulletin next week, please ask your youngster to watch out for this.

FSM / Clothing Grants

Details on applying for Free School Meals and help with schoolwear are available on the flyer attached below.

ParentPay – HE / CDT

ParentPay has been set up so that you can pay for your youngsters Home Economics and CDT online.  Please note teachers will no longer be accepting payments in class time, this should be done via ParentPay.  If you have any issues making ParentPay payments please contact the School Office.

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

It’s time to apply for EMA.  Are you staying on at school and will be 16 before 28th February 2019?  If so you may be eligible for EMA payments of £30 per week.  Please collect an EMA Form from the School Office.

KHS Hockey

Welcome to all new hockey players and their parents and also welcome back to all our current members at the beginning of yet another season!
This year instead of issuing all players with paper copies of our packs we are putting all the relevant information on the KHS website (in the School Bag on right hand side) where you will have easy access to the documents. If you are unable to print off the consent forms etc. paper copies are still available from the coach in charge of your youngsters year group.  Please note there are Parents’ Evening regarding hockey this season scheduled for next week:
S1 Players - Monday 27/8 6.30pm at KHS
S2-S6 Players - Wednesday 29/8 6.30pm at KHS
We look forward to seeing you at either of these meetings.

Pupils are reminded to respect both their school and their community and ensure that they use rubbish bins provided around school and the town to dispose of any litter.  If anyone has any suggestions on how we can promote this to stop littering please contact KHS at [email protected].
