Weekly Update 23/06/17

Change to Timetable for Last Day (Wed 28/6)

Please note the timetable has been changed slightly for the last day of term.  We will be following our Friday period times until the end of Period 4.  Pupils will then have lunch from 12.30pm until 1.20pm followed by a Summer Concert.  The day will then be finished off with a Ceilidh ending at 3.30pm when pupils will be excused.  Bus pupils will be collected as normal.

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

It’s time to apply for EMA - if your youngster is 16 before 28th February 2018 and is staying on at school they may be entitled to EMA payments of £30 per week.  Application forms are available to collect from the School Office.  Please note that an application form must be submitted for each academic year.

School Uniform

Please remember to order your uniform online from Border Embroideries - follow the quick link on the right hand side of this page.

If you order before the 24th July it will be delivered to the school on 11th August free of charge, or alternatively you can have it delivered to your home address for £4.99 (unless the order is over £50 in which case delivery will be free).  Home delivery can take up to 4 weeks.

If you are not able to order online, order forms are available at the office and must be handed in by Friday 23rd June.

Reminder: Black Jumper and red tie for S1-S5 pupils. Black trousers/skirt and black shoes for all pupils.

Sports Leadership Day at Cheviot Youth

We want you to start back at your KHS Sports Leadership course with a bang.  So Cheviot Youth have designed and planned in partnership with Glasgow’s Metro Outdoors a great Sports Leadership Day on Thursday 11th August.

Athletics at Selkirk Games

Three KHS pupils, after each of them winning their heats, took part in the Junior 90m final at Selkirk Games where they came out on top.  1st - Josh Abbott, 2nd - Douglas Young and 3rd - Ben Lyall, there was a very close photo finish between Josh and Douglas.  Later that day in the 200m final Douglas Young came out on top in 1st with Ben Lyall claiming 3rd.  Photographs below.

Borders Schools Athletics

The KHS athletics squad performed very well at the Borders Schools Athletics earlier this week.  Their conduct throughout the day was exemplary and were fantastic representatives for our school.  Well done to all.  Placings were as follows:

Saturday Job at The Planet

Due to staff moving on to university, Cheviot Youth is now looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and hard working person to provide waiting duties at The Planet Café.

We will provide good remuneration (£6 per hour); a training and support package and holiday pay.

Trainee Quantity Surveyor Programme
