Weekly Update 23/03/18

S1 Parents’ Evening 19/04/18

S1 pupils have been issued with a letter today about the Parents’ Evening on Thursday 19th April.  Parents will be able to go online and book appointments from 9am on Monday 26th March.  A copy of the letter is attached below if required.

Use of local Co-op during lunchtime

A conversation with the manager of our local Co-op took place this week due to the poor attitude and behaviour of some of young people who go there to buy their lunch.

If there is no improvement with regards to respecting our local community then their proposal is to ban all KHS pupils from the store on a Monday - Thursday lunchtime.

If your youngster does leave the school during our lunchtime please can I ask that you remind them of their responsibilities and how we can improve this current situation?

Curling Update

KHS pupils Angus Bryce, Joanna Sutherland, Kyle McLain, Callum McLain and Molly Sutherland represented the school at The Scottish Schools Curling Championships held at Braeheads, Glasgow from Friday 16th - Sunday 18th March.  We managed to go one better than last and get to the final, coming home with a silver medal, a hugh achievement!!

From a starting line up of 24 schools we played 5 round robin games then a further 3 games in the knockout stages.  The kids were an absolute credit to us and they met so many other kids at the competition that many friendships were formed and hopes are high that they may meet up at future curling competitions.  Well done.

Equestrian Update

Congratulations to Duncan McFadyen (S6) who was won Youth Coach of the Year at the Horse Scotland Awards earlier this week.  Well don Duncan!!

Keep Kelso / KHS Tidy!

Pupils are reminded to respect both their school and their community and ensure that they use rubbish bins provided around school and the town to dispose of any litter.  If anyone has any suggestions on how we can promote this to stop littering please contact KHS at [email protected].
