Kelso 15s/16s Football Report

Sunday 2nd April, Kelso hosted Hawick 15s at Woodside Park. Kelso got off to a great start when Mikey Kavanagh beat 4 or 5 defenders a smashed the ball past the goalkeeper from a tight angle. The visitors then came back into it and had a few chances before the half-time whistle blew. Half-time score Kelso 1-0 Hawick 15s.

Kelso/ Mikey Kavanagh doubled their goal tally in the game when he nicked it off the ‘keeper and rolled the ball into the net after about 20 seconds into the second half. Thomas Robson then added his name to the scoresheet when he slotted home from a rebound and then Lewis Finlay finished nicely after a great team move that started in Kelso’s own penalty box. The game slowed down after that but was quickly brought back to life 15 minutes later when Jake Douglas sneakily passed a free-kick under the jumping wall and into the bottom corner. Then with virtually the last kick of the game Mikey Kavanagh grabbed his hat-trick by tackling a defender and blasting the ball into the roof of the net. Full time score Kelso 6-0 Hawick 15s.

Kelso now have a break for the Easter Holidays but will return with a home game against Lauder on Sunday 23rd April at Woodside Park. Kick-off 10.30 a.m.  Report by Rhys Lawrence (S4).
