YPI Cheque Presentation on the 10th Anniversary of Callums Trust being founded

Kelso High School proudly participated in the YPI (Youth Philanthropic Initiative) for the 4th year over the 2018/19 session.  YPI challenges groups of S3 students to research social issues in our area and identify registered charities who support them.   The students then produce a comprehensive presentation based on the work and impact of the charity which is assessed by a panel of impartial expert judges. This years’ winners were; Matilda Brookes, Kenzie Lamb and Emily Girdwood who chose to support Galashiels based charity, Callum’s Trust.  Due to the girl’s efforts, Callum’s Trust received a cheque for £3000 which was gratefully received by the founder Audrey Finnie.

Callum’s Trust provides equipment and resources to patients who are:

·         Receiving treatment for lymphoma, leukaemia or myeloma.

·         Requiring support for end of life cancer care within the Scottish Borders

Callum’s Trust also provides funds for projects supporting the development of cancer care in our region.  For further information see: callumstrust.org for more details. (Photo below)

The Thomas Maconochie KHS Trust was established in 2003 by Mr Thomas Maconochie, a former pupil of the school.  The trust is a recognised Charity, Scottish Charity No: SCO34775.
