Kelso 15s/16s Football Report

This past Sunday Kelso faced a tough trip to Duns in a game which they had to win in order to have any chance of playing in the Cup final in June.  Things didn’t start well for the visitors as they seemed half-asleep throughout the first half and went into the break trailing 4-0.

The second half started better as Kelso’s Jake Douglas scored a few minutes in after a failed corner clearance by Duns.  However, Kelso then seemed to drop off the pace and were punished as the home side added three more easily-avoided goals to add to Kelso’s sorrows. Kelso’s Lewis Finlay then got himself sent off for a total lack of discipline when antagonised by the shrewd Duns team, for pushing an opposition player which is deemed ‘violent conduct’ in the rule book and he will be banned for three or four games missing the remainder of the Season.  Naughty boy.  Final score Duns 7-1 Kelso.

Next week it doesn’t get any easier for Kelso as they travel to play Hawick 16s on their 3G pitch.  Fun fact: Kelso will have played on the pitch three times after Sunday!  Report by Rhys Lawrence (S4).

Equestrian - Results from Scottish School Equestrian Championships at Howe in Fife

We had 6 riders and 7 horses make the journey up to the Scottish Schools Championships at Highfield of Howe in Fife.  It was a very well run competition organised by Kilgraston School. The logistics were unbelievable as they had showjumping, dressage & combined training all going on at once!  We had a bit of a mix up from our normal teams but it fortunately didn’t make any difference to our success rate!  Some very good results and plenty of individual and team qualifications!  It was also good to see our riders having a go at dressage and picking up some results!  A very good warm up for Floors!  Thank you to everybody who has responded re riding and helping.  Still spaces for more!  Will try and collate a bit and send out list in due course.
