Yetholm Dry Bar
YETHOLM DRY BAR
The Yetholm Dry Bar is open to all children and young people aged 9 to 18 years of age in the Morebattle, Kelso & Yetholm areas. It provides a safe environment where young people are encouraged to take part in a variety of events, courses and social evenings. It is not a school, it is not a home, it is a place where young people come to hang out, be with their peers and friends, a place to relax, enjoy and have fun.
The young people who are members of the Dry Bar are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, to behave towards others with consideration and respect and to follow their own set of Dry Bar rules. In helping to develop this moral sense our team of eight adult youth supervisors make every effort to establish good relationships with all members based upon trust, honesty and mutual understanding.
The Dry Bar is run by volunteers and financially supported through the occasional charitable donation from bodies such as CBAH and the Scottish Community Foundation as well as benefiting from its own fundraising, mainly the annual Christmas Fayre and our Summer Book, DVD & CD Sale. Such support has enabled the Dry Bar Management Committee to run a variety of events over the last few years some of which are listed below
- Craft classes
- Motorbike maintenance classes

- Film Club Nights

For 2013 we will be continuing our film nights through until May, offer an Easter Bingo & Quiz night, hold a residential bushcraft weekend, start a weekly fashion and design course and plan for our Summer Festival of Fun . We are always open to new suggestions from young people regarding what to offer and organise and are ever hopeful of hearing from local adults with skills and interests which they may wish to pass on through a short course or one day workshop.
